Nonkosi is our very special number 1 AA member. Her health was so bad in October 2002 that her Doctor in RSA then feared that there was little hope for her, notwithstanding our intervention and resulting access to ARV drugs. It was a huge fight for her complicated by a further bout of TB, but Nonkosi survived. After her treatment started, her viral load was quickly brought down and she has continued to prosper since then.
Alison is a 38 year old Hospital Assistant, in the Western Cape Province, RSA. She started to take ARV Drugs funded by Aids Ark in September 2002. At this time her CD4 count was 228 and she was receiving Chemotherapy for an AIDS related Skin Cancer - Kaposi Sarcoma. She had an immediate excellent response to the medication and has since been fully treatment compliant. By September 2003 Alison's CD4 count was up to 487 and she told us November 2003 "My eating is very well, I picked up weight very fast and my health is very good. I am feeling so much better now. Thank you Aids Ark for saving my life and protecting the future of my family."
