2002: AA is set up in the UK by Derek Frost and Jeremy Norman (who also co-founded the UK Charity, Crusaid) with the support of their friends. AA starts funding ARVs for 23 individuals in South Africa and 18 individuals in Lesotho.
2004: All 22 surviving South African beneficiaries are found places on newly available Government ARV programmes.
2005: AA starts funding ARVs for 18 individuals through FXB in India.
2006: AA now funds ARVs for 66 individuals through FXB in India and for 10 individuals through FXB in Burma. All 18 Lesotho beneficiaries are found places on newly available Government ARV programmes. From the Lesotho Minister of Health "AIDS Ark has truly been a pioneer of ARV treatment in the Kingdom of Lesotho."
2007: AA are now funding ARVs for 20 individuals in Burma.
2008: After lengthy negotiations, the Clinton Fund supplies a years free ARVs to all our 66 Indian AA Beneficiaries.
2009: All 64 surviving AA FXB Indian beneficiares are found places on Government ARV programmes. All 19 surviving AA FXB Burmese beneficiaries are found places on the 3DF ARV programme. AA begins funding ARVs and medical costs for 70 individuals through MAM in Burma. AA starts to fund ARVs and medical costs for 25 Burmese refugees through FXB in India. AA broadens its remit and contributes to the cost of treatment and care (excluding the cost of ARVs which are now freely available elsewhere) for 103 HIV+ individuals in South Africa, 130 HIV+ individuals in India and 80 HIV+ individuals in Uganda.
